East Initiative

What is EAST?

EAST stands for Environmental and Spatial Technology. The mission of the program is to empower students to become productive and contributing citizens of the "real world."  EAST students are charged with working on service-based projects for the school and the community to develop skills in a workplace atmosphere.  By working within teams and individually, the students will move forward to developing critical thinking and problem solving skills.

EAST is based on a workplace environment where students select community projects as their tool to learn in a project-based environment.  The objectives of the learning environment include self-directed learning, community service, technology as a tool, and teamwork.  As a result, EAST students develop project plans to seek a connection with our community by working projects with measurable results.

The students are charged with addressing community problems, effectively function as a member of a project team, and learn to become productive citizens of the community.
